What We Do.

Comprehensive Exam
Are you meticulous about your oral health but are new to our office? Maybe you can’t even remember the last time you sat in a dentist’s chair? Whatever your situation, we can only start moving forward from where we are, and moving forward begins with the comprehensive exam!
During this initial visit, Dr. Davis will take time to get to know you and understand your oral health needs and goals. X-rays will usually be taken and discussed as they help us see more than just what meets the eye and thus are an integral part of a complete intra-oral examination. In most cases, following the exam, Dr. Davis will discuss his findings with you and together you will establish a reasonable treatment plan addressing any needs and outlining any options that might exist. A regular cleaning schedule will also be established to facilitate effective prevention. Occasionally, Dr. Davis may need to spend additional time reviewing his findings and will schedule a follow-up visit to discuss his recommendations for treatment at another time.
It is important to us that you have a clear understanding of our findings, treatment options and costs, and that you feel your questions have been heard and answered prior to moving forward with any necessary treatment.

Complimentary Second Opinions
Have you have recently had an examination and X-rays completed by a different dentist but would like a second opinion concerning findings, treatment options, and cost? No problem! Simply bring along your recent X-rays or have them sent to our office and Dr. Davis will gladly complete a complimentary exam and provide you with a second opinion absolutely free of charge!

Cleanings
Even if you are vigilant with brushing and flossing at home, you are probably missing a few spots, often the same spots over and over again. This can lead to build up that, if left in place, can affect your gums, and eventually your bone.
Regularly scheduled cleanings provide an opportunity to identify any trouble areas and remove any build up that might exist before it becomes a more serious issue. These regular visits also give Dr. Davis a chance to reinforce good habits and excellent home care, and to establish the appropriate length of time between cleanings going forward. If appropriate, probing measurements may be taken to assess if there are any areas of concern that might benefit from additional treatment options.
Our primary goal in emphatically recommending regularly scheduled cleanings is to help you maintain a healthy smile. Regular cleanings are simply the cornerstone of oral health maintenance and ensure that if problems do arise with your teeth or surrounding tissues, we can take care of them early, preventing wasted time and money and avoiding unnecessary pain!

Root Canal Treatment
Sometimes, despite the best intentions, the nerve tissue inside your tooth becomes painful or even dies. Inflammation of the nerve within the tooth is often accompanied by an infection, known as an endodontic abscess. These situations may arise due to a recent trauma or even one in your distant past, or possibly untreated advanced tooth decay. Sometimes we cannot exactly identify the cause, but nothing we do makes it feel any better. Occasionally, a patient might not experience any pain at all and will be surprised when an abscess shows up as a dark area at the tip of a root on an xray.
Whatever the cause, painful of not, occasionally it may become necessary to remove the nerve tissue from a tooth in order to save it. This process is what is known as a “Root Canal”.
Dr Davis can perform most Root Canal Treatments in just one or two visits right here in our office. In some cases, such as unusually complex tooth anatomy, Dr Davis might refer you to a trusted Specialist in the area to have them perform the necessary treatment.
-
Tooth Extractions
Sometimes a tooth is so far gone due to decay or trauma that it simply cannot be saved. Sometimes, in preparation for a prosthesis like a partial or complete denture, loose or unhealthy teeth my need to be removed to facilitate the functional or aesthetic success of the appliance. Whatever the reason, if it is determined that it is time to pull a tooth, this is called an extraction.
Dr. Davis can perform most tooth extractions right in our office in a single visit. Prior to the extraction Dr Davis will carefully review your medical history as well as any medications you might be taking to ensure your safety during and after the procedure. Following the procedure Dr. Davis will review important instructions to follow during the hours and days following treatment.
